Biografía

A member of the Edinburgh Vulcan CC, Charlie Hill won the 150-mile (241 km) Olympic trial around the roads of Lanark a few weeks before the 1912 Olympic Games. He covered the distance in 9-13:00, beating fellow Olympians George Corsar and Robert Thompson by five minutes. All three were selected for the eight-man Scottish team to go to Stockholm, and they finished fourth in the team race. In 1913 Hill set a record for the 113.5-mile (183 km) round trip from Edinburgh to Berwick-upon-Tweed and back. His time of 6-45:00 stood as a record for 19 years.
