Biografía

Bela Varga started to wrestle with BEAC and later moved to BAK and MAC. Between 1911-25, he won seven Hungarian Greco-Roman titles. He won a gold medal at unofficial international championships three times. In 1910, he was a World champion in heavyweight, then in 1912 and 1913, a European champion in middleweight category B.

Varga first competed at the Olympics in 1912 at Stockholm, where he won a bronze medal. He next took part in the 1924 Paris Olympics, where he finished sixth. Varga finished his sporting career in 1926 and became co-chair of the Hungarian Wrestling Federation. At the 1936 Olympics, Varga was the head coach of the Hungarian wrestling team. He graduated as medical doctor in 1915 and worked until the age of 79.
