Although he failed to place at the 1920 Final Trials, Allen Woodring was surprisingly chosen for the 200 m at the Antwerp Olympics. Equally surprisingly, Woodring won the Olympic title, edging Charlie Paddock at the tape. While at Syracuse, Woodring won the IC4A 220 y in 1921 and the 440 y in 1923. After graduation he worked for the Spalding Company as a salesman.
Personal Best: 200 – 22.0 (1920).
