Biografía

A two-time Olympian in 1928 and 1936, Mitt also competed at World Championships finishing 20th in 1931 (did not finish in 1934). He was 11 times nation speed skating champion in the all-round mostly winning all four distances between 1922 and 1941. During this time, he improved 11 times national speed skating records including five times in the 5000 m. In 1930, he also won the Estonian Championship in the 5 km cycling race. He served as a member of the board of the famous EASK club. Mitt graduated from the Police Academy in 1929 and studied law at the Tartu University 1931-1941. He worked for the Tartu police, when he was arrested by the notorious Soviet secret police NKVD. Mitt died in a prison camp near Kirov two months after he was sentenced to death.

Personal Bests: 500 – 45.5 (1937); 1500 – 2:27.2 (1934); 5000 – 8:54.4 (1934); 10000 – 18:15.4 (1934).
