Biografía

Agustín Cejas was a goalkeeper who played from 1962-81 with various Argentine football clubs. He was with Racing Club from 1962-69 and 1977-80, Santos from 1970-75, where he played with Pele, Huracán in 1975, Grêmio in 1975-76, and after his second appearance with Racing Club, he ended his career with River Plate in 1981. Cejas played for Argentina at the 1964 Olympics and the 1963 Pan American Games, winning a silver medal a the Pan Ams. His club championships included the 1966 Copa Libertadores and the 1967 Intercontinental Cup. The 1967 Intercontinental Cup between Racing Club and Glasgow Celtic was marred by the Argentine side's persistent fouling, and the tie went to a third match played at a neutral venue in Uruguay and this match became known as "The Battle of Montevideo" as Racing continued to consistently foul the Celtic players. Riot police were called onto the pitch in a match that saw six players sent off.
