Urban, natural and artistic heritage

The town of Valenciennes boasts many touristic and cultural assets: its urban, natural and artistic heritage, a vibrant cultural scene with many festivals such as the ones programmed by the nationally renowned Phénix concert hall, a fine arts museum, the legacy of the mining industry listed as UNESCO world heritage, or its green heritage, with parks and gardens in the town centre, such as the Parc des Prix de Rome or the Jardin de la Rhônelle.

The town of Valenciennes and the surrounding conurbation have set the goal of making the area a nationally and internationally renowned genuinely durable tourist destination.

Promoting para-sport and its development

As part of its sports policy, the town of Valenciennes and its conurbation promote para-sport to help its development, notably by supporting the Association Sportive & Handisportive du Hainaut Valenciennois and its wheelchair basketball team.

They are partners for several events: the René Pruvot international wheelchair basketball tournament organised by ASHHV and the para-tennis open set up by TSBV. Valenciennes boasts several sports facilities, such as the Stade du Hainaut stadium, the aquatic centre and the skating rink, all of which are adapted to be accessible to all.
