A treasure trove of opportunities
Val-de-Marne is the most extensive department in the inner suburbs of Paris, spanning 47 towns and cities across 245 km². It continues to grow its impressive transportation network with the opening of the first sky tram in Île-de-France, the extension of metro line 14 and the arrival of line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, boosting its economic appeal. Dubbed the "Water Department", it has 37 municipalities on the banks of the Seine, the Marne or secondary rivers. Val-de-Marne has earmarked over 150 million euros for improving and safeguarding water quality, promoting biodiversity and making its bodies of water fit for bathing again with a view to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
A key driver of inclusion in sports
The Val-de-Marne Department works hard to promote and facilitate access to inclusive sport through its backing for organisations such as the Departmental Para-sport and Adapted Sport Committees, initiatives to foster the development of para-sport, high-level para-athletes and the purchase of special equipment for these disciplines. In line with this aspiration and its support for autonomy, the department has also joined forces with the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF) to roll out the "Club Inclusif" operation to further bolster access to para-sports throughout its territory.
