Historic charm along seven canals
In Normandy, just an hour from Paris and 30 minutes from Rouen, Louviers, a town of nearly 20,000 residents, anchors an urban area of 105,000. Crossed by seven canals, Louviers features architecture deeply influenced by its historical heritage: from Notre-Dame Church, a paragon of the flamboyant Gothic style of the 12th century, to the distinctive roofs of old textile factories, and from the town centre, rebuilt following the destruction of World War II, to modern structures. A vibrant town with 300 shops, a wide range of sports facilities for everyone and numerous cultural venues, Louviers has all the amenities of large cities but on a human scale.
Sport, a grand municipal cause for 2024
Louviers, the host town of the Challenge Carrington, the oldest cross-country race in France, evolves with the times to promote sports for all. The local administration supports almost 40 sports clubs, including 8 disabled sports clubs, and selected sport as its grand municipal cause for 2024. The "Nuit des sports" ("Night of Sports"), whose fourteenth edition was held in September 2023, showcases the diverse sports scene of Louviers from the perspectives of competition, leisure and sport for health.
