Where history and culture meet nature

Blois stands out for its natural and architectural environments on the banks of the Loire, in the heart of the UNESCO perimeter. The city is proud of its quality of life, vibrant economic and university scene, dynamic community, culture and sports. The Royal Château, the House of Magic, the Foundation of Doubt, the Comic Strip House and the decorations of the Denis Papin staircase round out the panorama and draw over a million visitors a year. Just 1h30 from Paris, it is easy to get to Blois by car or by train, but nothing beats discovering the city from the Loire on a bicycle.

A pledge to bring sports to all

Blois has been awarded the "Ville active et sportive" label and rolled out an assertive policy to encourage sports for all. This takes the shape of a concerted and sustained financial and logistical effort to back local organisations. The local administration provides sports instructors to schools and runs classes at flexible hours. It runs training camps for youngsters, grown-ups and senior citizens. Blois also steps up to the plate for para-sport by organising disability awareness days at schools jointly with Marie-Amélie Le Fur and the Departmental Para-sport Committee. These events leverage games and sport to spread the message. This ambitious policy goes hand in hand with a wide-ranging plan to renovate facilities and promote soft mobility in favour of everyday physical activity.
