He may be down after defeat in the Paris 2024 men’s basketball final, but Victor Wembanyama is far from out.

His France side lost 98-87 to the United States in the gold medal match, leaving them with consecutive silver medals to the same opponents at the Olympic Games.

Wemby was clearly devastated, despite shooting a game-high of 26 points including seven rebounds, but is keen to avenge himself along with his teammates.

Wembanyama told the San Antonio Express-News, "I’m learning, and I’m worried for the opponents in a couple of years - everywhere."

At 20-years-old, the centre for the San Antonio Spurs will have his focus fixed on the next Olympics in the nation where he plays, at LA 2028.

Wembanyama was one of France's standout players en route to the gold medal match, nonetheless contributing to France's best medal tally at a Summer or Winter Olympic Games in over 100 years.
