Team USA at Paris 2024 Olympics: Preview, highlights, athletes to watch and schedule for August 11
Team USA fans will have plenty to cheer on Sunday (11 August), the final day of sporting action at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Women’s volleyball and women’s basketball, two of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, will give the North American nation a chance to finish the Paris Games on a golden note.
Finally, at the Closing Ceremony, LA28 will give a sneak preview of the excitement to come in four year's time at the next Olympic Games.
There is no winning streak in sports like the streak the U.S. women’s basketball team, and they will endeavour to continue that on Sunday. Since 1996, the U.S. has won every gold medal in women’s basketball. They’ve won 60 Olympic Games in a row, with the last loss coming before most of the roster of the current team was born.
But even with a star-studded roster, winning against hosts France won’t be easy. The French team is strong and physical, led by WNBA and UConn standout Gabby Williams. This is a game you won’t want to miss.
The U.S. women’s volleyball team isn’t quite as dominant as their basketball counterparts, but they have been on every Olympic podium since 2008. Led by Jordan Larson and Avery Skinner, the U.S. women will face Italy for a chance to repeat the gold they won at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The Closing Ceremony will have special significance for Team USA. Organizers of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 will get to give fans a taste of the upcoming Games. It’s the first time the Olympics will be back in the United States since the Winter Olympic Games Salt Lake City 2002.
