History-seeking Tom Daley headlines Britain’s synchronised diving team for Paris 2024
Tom Daley will become the first British diver to compete at five Olympic Games after being named on the British synchronised diving squad for Paris 2024.
The 29-year-old will have the opportunity to defend the 10m synchro title he won in dramatic fashion alongside Matty Lee at Tokyo 2020.
Daley, along with current diving partner Noah Williams, is part of an eight-strong team that includes Rio 2016 3m synchronised springboard champion Jack Laugher, as well as two-time world medallist Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and two-time Olympian Lois Toulson.
“Congratulations to the first eight divers selected to Team GB for Paris 2024,” Team GB Chef de Mission Mark England said of the announcement. “All four pairs have proven that they can challenge for podium places on the world stage, and it is fantastic to see the calibre of diving athletes getting stronger and stronger with each Games.
“There is also a fantastic mix of youth and experience within the squad, and I am delighted to welcome Olympic Champions Jack and Tom back to Team GB for a fourth and fifth Games respectively. Congratulations to Tom in particular who becomes the first British diver to compete at five Olympic Games, a remarkable achievement.”
* As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes' participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.

Celebrity, youth and experience combine in world-class British synchro team
Daley burst onto the Olympic scene at age 14 when he competed at Beijing 2008. It was an event his current diving partner Williams, who is six years his junior, admits he didn’t even have the opportunity to witness.
"My first memory of diving in general is at my grandad’s house and he turned the tele on and it was him [Daley] in Beijing in a handstand," Williams told the BBC.
"He said ‘that’s that young kid everyone is talking about’ and then he turned it off and said diving is boring anyway. I didn’t even get to see the dive."
Since then, Daley has become one of the most decorated divers in the world, winning bronze medals at London 2012 (10m platform), Rio 2016 (synchronised platform) and Tokyo 2020 (10m platform) in addition to the shining gold he achieved three years ago in Japan.
As well as his history-making performances in the pool, Daley has become a household name outside of it, with his knitting projects garnering particular interest during the last Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The British team has even more of a celebrity shine to it with the inclusion of Spendolini-Sirieix, whose father Fred Sirieix starred in the British Channel 4 TV show First Dates and BBC 2 series Million Pound Menu.
However, this year, you can expect Spendolini-Sirieix to take centre stage, as the 19-year-old aims to add to the bronze medals she won in the women’s 10m platform and 10m synchro at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
Among the other promising names on the list are women’s 3m synchro pair Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew-Jensen who have five world medals between them.
“At two consecutive World Championships, we have seen our pairs confidently take places on the podium,” commented Aquatics GB Diving Head Coach Alexei Evangulov. “As well as that, for the first time in our history, our female synchro pairs won World Championship medals in 2023 – and they did so again at the Worlds earlier this year. This success across the pairings has continued at the World Aquatics Diving World Cup series, taking place over the past two months.”
