A total of 852 male and female swimmers will compete across 35 events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, from 27 July to 4 August.

The action will take place at the converted Paris La Defense Arena - a modern indoor stadium that usually hosts Parisian rugby team Racing 92.

For the first time, the swimming competitions will take place over nine days (as opposed to the regular eight-day format) in order to alleviate the congested schedules of multi-event athletes. Prelims will run in the morning, followed by the semi-final and final sessions in the evening and the night session.

There will be plenty to cheer about for home fans, with five-time world champion and local hero Leon Marchand having the chance to win multiple gold medals on home soil.

He will join plenty of Olympic champions in what will be a star-studded line-up in the French capital, including the likes of Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky, Emma McKeon, and Adam Peaty.

Below, we take a closer look at the swimming stars to watch out for in Paris, a full schedule, and how to watch the action.

At just 22-years-old, LĂ©on Marchand could become a French legend at these Games.

In 2023, the Toulouse man won the 200 butterfly, 200 medley, and 400 medley world titles, and is an early favourite to multiple gold medals - especially in the 400 medley where he is also the world record holder.

The USA will send a strong and familiar team to France, headed up by seven-time gold medallists Caeleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky. Dressel will compete individually in the 50 free and 100 fly, and Ledecky secured a spot in the 200, 400, 800, and 1500 free at Trials.

Not to be outdone, Australia's delegation includes Tokyo 2020's most successful female athlete Emma McKeon, Rio 2016 gold medallist Kyle Chalmers, 200 free world record holder Ariarne Titmus, and backstroke queen Kaylee McKeown.

Elsewhere, all eyes will be on Canada's 17-year-old wunderkind Summer McIntosh, who is already a two-time world champion in the 200 fly and the 400 medley, and also the World Record holder in the latter.

Finally, rejuvenated British World Record holder Adam Peaty will be hoping to become the first man to win three-consecutive 100 breast Olympic titles.
