Three-time Olympic winner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce begins the dash to add more titles to her glowing legacy at the 2024 Jamaican Olympic Track and Field Trials at the National Stadium in Kingston.
She is set to earn her spot for her fifth Olympic Games in Paris, starting Thursday, June 27.
Fraser-Pryce ended her 10-month long break from competition with 11.15-second dash at a local 100m meeting in Kingston on June 15, that was organised to prepare athletes for the Olympic Trials and also Paris.
Her coach Reynaldo Walcott of Elite Performance Track Club, who guided her to a fifth world title at Eugene 2022, and also worked with her when she raced to her personal best of 10:60, which ranks her as the third-fastest in the all-time list, told Citius Mag, that his star athlete remains motivated to finish her exciting career on a high.
“She’s just so hungry, despite the success that’s there before. I think it’s more a matter of perfecting your craft, perfecting the best stuff.”
The 10-time world gold medallist starts her hunt for a ninth Olympic medal on Thursday 27 June at the trials, with the 100m, and then two days later the 200m.
She intends to retire from track after the Paris Olympics to mainly spend time with her son and husband, and work with her Foundation.
