Rebeca Andrade and Brazil Olympic stars attend NFL debut in Sao Paulo
Andrade and Paris 2024 medallists Duda Lisboa, Beatriz Souza and Rayssa Leal watched on as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-29.
Rebeca Andrade was among the Brazilian Olympic stars in Sao Paulo on Friday (6 September) for the first NFL game staged in South America.
The artistic gymnast, who won floor gold at Paris 2024 to take her medal tally to six and become her country's most decorated Olympian, was introduced on the pitch inside the NeoQuimica Arena along with two-time street skateboarding medallist Rayssa Leal.
Beatriz Souza and Duda Lisboa, who won Olympic golds in judo and beach volleyball in Paris respectively, also took the acclaim of the crowd which was in excess of 47,000.
They watched on as the Philadelphia Eagles edged out the Green Bay Packers 34-29.
The stadium is the home to Brazilian football giants Corinthians. The choice of the participating teams had caused some controversy as both wear green, the colour worn by Corinthians' bitter rivals Palmeiras.
Despite that, many fans turned out in green as running back Saquon Barkley scored three touchdowns in an Eagles win. There was more woe for the Packers as quarterback Jordan Love was helped from the field with seconds remaining.
Souza, who won the +78kg title in Paris, showed off her Olympic gold medal to the fans.
She, Andrade and Duda - alongside Ana Patricia - won Brazil's three golds in the French capital.
