Pools revealed for rugby sevens competition at Paris 2024

The rugby sevens repechage tournament in Monaco, held from 21-23 June saw South Africa's men's team and the People's Republic of China's women's team secure the final berths for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Following the finals, World Rugby announced the pools for the Paris 2024 rugby competition, scheduled to run from 24-30 July at the Stade de France.

Operation defend the titles is a go: Fiji and New Zealand are ready

Twelve men's and twelve women's teams have been divided into three pools each based on their rankings from recent tournaments.

In the men's pools, host nation France face tough opponents such as two-time Olympic champions Fiji. Recently-qualified South Africa will go up against Tokyo 2020 silver medallists New Zealand, who will be looking to go one step further in the capital of France. And Uruguay and Samoa will make their Olympic debuts.

On the pitch for the women, Olympic champions New Zealand starts their gold medal defence against Fiji, Canada, and the People's Republic of China in the women's Pool A. Rio 2016 champions Australia will compete against Ireland, Great Britain, and debutants South Africa on the right side of the draw.

Rugby sevens will tackle its third Olympic appearance in Paris, with action that promises to leave fans on the edge of their seats.
