Paris 2024 Olympics: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce back training in French capital ahead of her final Games
Team Jamaica co-captain Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has been testing the conditions in the French capital ahead of her fifth and final Olympic Games at Paris 2024.
The eight-time Olympic medallist touched down in Paris earlier in the week and trained at the Complexe Sportiff de I’ile des Vannes, one of the official Paris 2024 training centres.
Fraser-Pryce has raced sparingly this season. She delayed the start of her season until 15 June at a race in Kingston. The triple Olympic champion then competed at the Jamaican National Championships, where she qualified third in the 100m behind Shericka Jackson to book her slot in the team.
She withdrew from her first race outside Jamaica at the World Athletics Continental Tour meet in Lucerne, Switzerland, on 16 July with a slight discomfort during warmups.
The 37-year-old, 10-time world champion will team up with Jackson, Tia Clayton and Forbes Shashalee in the quest to retain the 100m won by Elaine Thompson-Herah at Tokyo 2020.
Fraser-Pryce, three will be in action in the 100m qualifying round on Friday, August 2 with the aim of making it through to the semi-final and finals on August 3.
