Paris 2024 Paralympic Games preview for September 2: Lucas Mazur, Aurélie Aubert, Hunter Woodhall and Sarah Adam among those to watch

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games continue on Monday, 2 September, with medals up for grabs in eight different sports: para archery, para athletics, para badminton, boccia, para swimming, para triathlon, shooting para sport and wheelchair rugby.

It will be a busy day at Pont Alexandre III, with medals up for grabs in all 11 para triathlon events. There will also be a packed programme of matches at the Porte de le Chapelle Arena and Arena Paris Sud, with numerous medals to be decided in Para badminton and boccia, respectively.

Play will also continue in blind football, goalball, Para table tennis, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis, with plently of action scheduled to help keep away Monday boredom.

French medal chances on September 2 at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Para badminton will bring at least two medals to France after Lucas Mazur qualified for the men's singles SL4 gold medal match and Charles Noakes qualified for the men's singles SH6 gold medal match. Mazur will also play with Faustine Noël in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 bronze medal match, on what promises to be a memorable day for the French player at Paris 2024.

Para triathlon could also see a slew of medals for French athletes after all 11 events were postponed to 2 September.

With 17 French athletes competing for medals, it will be an exciting day for the host country. Alexis Hanquinquant will lead the charge, aiming to replicate his gold medal performance from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Jules Ribstein (PTS2), Pierre-Antoine Baele (PTS4), Anouck Curzillat (PTVI) and Élise Marc (PTS4) will also fight for medals along the Seine.

Aurélie Aubert will pursue history, as she chases the host nation's first-ever medal in boccia at the Paralympic Games. France's trailblazer will face Singapore's Jeralyn Tan Yee Ting in the highly anticpated gold medal match of the women's indiviudal BC1 event.

Finally, French swimmer Ugo Didier will hope to give the home crowd a reason to cheer as he pursues gold in the men's 50m freestyle S9 and 4x100m mixed medley relay 34 points in Para swimming at Paris La Défense Arena.

International stars to watch

Italy's Valentina Petrillo, the first openly transgender athlete to participate in the Paralympic Games, will be among the international stars to watch in Para athletics at Stade de France. She'll race in round 1 of women's 400m T12 event.

Tunisia's Walid Ktila will also be among those to watch, as he aims for a fourth consecutive title in the men's 100m T34 final. Team USA's Hunter Woodhall, husband of Olympic champion long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall, will hope to emulate Ktila's success by claiming gold in the men’s 100m T64 final.

It will be a big day for Team USA, with the wheelchair rugby team facing Japan in a highly anticipated re-match of their group stage encounter for the gold medal at Paris 2024. Chuck Aoki and Sarah Adam will be key players as Team USA looks to return to the top step of the podium for the first time since the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

In the bronze medal match, Australia will look for redemption against Great Britain after suffering a 55-58 loss in the group stage. Look for captain Chris Bond and sensational try scorer Ryley Batt to make their presence felt, as they chase Australia's first wheelchair rugby medal since the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
