Paris 2024 Olympics wrestling: India’s results, scores and medal winners - full list

A six-member Indian wrestling team, including veteran Vinesh Phogat and Aman Sehrawat competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics in search of medals.

Vinesh Phogat qualified for the gold medal bout in the women's 50kg event but failed the weigh in on the morning of her medal match and was disqualified.

Aman Sehrawat went on to win a bronze in the men's 57kg category and also became India’s youngest Olympic medal winner at 21 years and 24 days old.

Aman Sehrawat’s bronze ensured India’s run of winning a medal in wrestling at the Olympics, which began at Beijing 2008, extended to its fifth straight Games.

Tokyo Olympian Anshu Malik appeared at the Summer Games for the second time, whereas Vinesh Phogat returned for the third time in search of a maiden medal.

The other four wrestlers - Antim Panghal (fourth seed), Aman Sehrawat (sixth seed), Nisha Dahiya and Reetika Hooda - made their Olympic debuts in Paris.

There were a total of 18 medal events in wrestling at Paris 2024. However, India competed in six of them. India’s wrestling campaign began on August 5 and ended on August 10.

  • Women: Anshu Malik (57kg), Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Antim Pangal (53kg), Reetika Hooda (76kg), Nisha Dahiya (68kg)

Two of the six Indians entered the Summer Games as seeded wrestlers - Antim Panghal (fourth seed in women’s 53kg) and Aman Sehrawat (sixth seed in men’s 57kg).

Wrestlers were seeded based on their performances at the 2023 World Championships, 2024 Continental Championships, 2024 Zagreb Open Ranking Series and the 2024 Hungarian Ranking Series.

The other four wrestlers - Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik, Nisha Dahiya and Reetika Hooda - were unseeded in Paris. The unseeded wrestlers were drawn into random brackets.

All of the wrestling events began from the round of 16 stage and progressed in a knockout format. The wrestlers losing to eventual finalists before semi-finals competed for bronze medals via repechage.

In the previous edition, India returned with two medals in the discipline - a silver for Ravi Kumar Dahiya in men’s 57kg and a bronze for Bajrang Punia in men’s 65kg. Neither made the cut for Paris.

Overall, India have eight Olympic medals in wrestling - two silver and six bronze medals at the end of Paris 2024
