Paris 2024 Olympics table tennis: Indian players’ results and scores

India’s table tennis campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics ended without a medal with their best finish coming in the team event, where the women reached the quarter-finals.

The Indian women’s team, comprising Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula and Archana Kamath, lost to Germany in the quarter-finals, while the team of Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar lost in their opening round of the men’s event to the People’s Republic of China.

In the singles competition, India fielded four players - two in men’s singles and two in women’s singles.

Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula made the round of 16 in women’s singles, becoming the first Indian players to do so at the Olympics.

Veteran Sharath Kamal, who was India’s flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony, was defeated in the opening round of the men’s singles. Harmeet Desai, meanwhile, won his qualifier round to reach the main draw, but lost in the round of 64.

All six players for the Indian Olympic table tennis team were selected based on world rankings. Besides them, Gnanasekaran Sathiyan and Ayhika Mukherjee travelled to Paris as the reserves.
