It was a historic day for India at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday. After some unexpected exits on Thursday, the Indian contingent bounced back successfully on Day 7.

Lakshya Sen became the first Indian player to make the men’s singles badminton semi-finals at the Olympics. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara, meanwhile, ensured the best finish in archery for India at the Summer Games.

A two-time medallist at the Youth Olympics, Sen took down Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in an edge-of-the-seat men’s singles quarter-final. Despite losing the first game, the Indian shuttler outplayed Chou Tien Chen to bag the next two games.

The reigning Commonwealth Games champion is now one win away from confirming an unprecedented Olympic medal.

Bhakat and Bommadevara, notably, became the first Indian archers to make the semi-finals at the Olympic Games. But the pair lost the match and later, missed out on a podium finish in the bronze medal contest.

Manu Bhaker and the Indian men’s hockey team also further added to the records.

Already a two-time medallist at Paris 2024, Bhaker made the women’s 25m pistol final. She could become the first Indian athlete to win three medals in individual events at the Summer Games.

India beat Australia in the men’s hockey Pool B match, their first victory against the Kookaburras at the Olympics after 52 years.

Parul Chaudhary (women’s 5000m) and Tajinderpal Singh Toor (men’s shot put), however, failed to qualify for their respective finals in athletics.

Indian athletes also featured in judo, golf, rowing and sailing on Day 7.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz make men’s singles tennis final

The top two seeds Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have made the men’s singles tennis final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Serbia’s Djokovic beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-final at the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Friday. Spanish tennis star Alcaraz, meanwhile, breezed past Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 6-1.

The Djokovic vs Alcaraz men’s singles gold medal match at Paris 2024 will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 3:30 PM IST. It will be a repeat of the Wimbledon 2024 final, where the Spaniard emerged victorious.

Alcaraz, incidentally, also beat Djokovic at the Roland Garros last year in the French Open semi-final.

Athletics: Tajinderpal Singh Toor fails to make shot put final

India’s Tajinderpal Singh Toor finished 15th in Group A and ranked 29th overall in the men’s shot put qualification round at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Making his second Summer Games appearance, Tajinder threw 18.05m in his first attempt, his only valid effort, which was well short of the qualification standard for the final and also below his season best of 20.38m. As a result, he failed to make the Olympic final in back-to-back editions.

At Tokyo 2020, the reigning Asian Games champion had notched a best of 19.99m, a much better effort.

Score: Tajinderpal Singh Toor (IND) marked a best of 18.05m to finish 15th in Group A (29th overall) in the men’s shot put qualification round.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor takes field for shot put qualification round

Tajinderpal Singh Toor, an Indian national record holder, takes centrestage in the men’s shot put qualification event at the Stade de France on Friday.

The 29-year-old athlete is a two-time Asian champion and also has two Asian Games gold medals. He is also a five-time national champion.

Tajinderpal is in Group A of the shot put qualification round at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

His group also features top-ranked Ryan Crouser of the USA, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and a world record holder, and Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri, the reigning European champion.

Tajinder will have to meet the qualification standard of 21.35m or rank among the top 12 performers in the event to make the final at Paris 2024.

Lakshya Sen makes his Olympic dream come true

Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen won a high-intensity men’s singles quarter-final against Chou Tein Chen of Chinese Taipei at Paris 2024.

Sen is now only one win away from confirming India’s first men’s singles badminton medal at the Olympics.

Speaking after his win on Friday, an elated Sen said, “This is something that I have been dreaming of and it feels really good to be in (the semifinals)."

"There is a lot more work to do and now is the real test.

“It starts from here and now is the time to go back and recover and be ready for the next match (on Sunday)," added the reigning Commonwealth Games champion.

Athletics: Parul Chaudhary, Ankita Dhyani miss out on 5000m final spot

Parul Chaudhary finished 14th in heat 2 in round one of the women’s 5000m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

As only the top eight runners from the heat made the final, Parul missed out on featuring in the medal event on her Olympic debut. She clocked a season-best 15:10.68, 0.33s short of her national record time, at the Stade de France on Friday and ranked 24th overall.

Ankita, meanwhile, finished 20th in heat 1 with a time of 16:19.38 and was placed 40th overall in the event.

The 29-year-old Parul will also take part in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at Paris 2024.

Parul, notably, had won two medals at the Asian Games last year. Parul’s 5000m gold and 3000m steeplechase silver at Hangzhou made her the first athlete to bag a medal in those two events at the continental meet.

Badminton: Lakshya Sen scripts men’s singles history for India at Olympics, makes semis

Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen beat Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 in the men’s singles quarter-final badminton match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The world No. 22 edged a closely contested encounter after 75 minutes at the La Chapelle Arena on Friday. Lakshya Sen, notably, became the first Indian male badminton player to make the semi-finals in the singles event at the Olympics.

Chou Tien Chen, seeded 12th, saw through a high-intensity first game. He was also in contention in the second but the Indian badminton ace dominated after the mid-game interval.

Like the first two, the third game continued with gruelling long rallies, with both shuttlers trying to force mistakes of each other. Lakshya Sen, however, was in complete control and sealed the game by nine points.

In the semi-finals scheduled for Sunday, August 4, the two-time Youth Olympics medallist Lakshya Sen will face either 10th-seeded Loh Kean Yew or Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, the reigning Olympic champion.

Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien Chen heads to decider third game

Lakshya Sen won the second game 21-15 against Chou Tien Chen to level the scores in the men’s singles quarter-final badminton match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Earlier, Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen had won a thrilling first game 21-19.

In the second game, however, Lakshya Sen had the upper hand. He won eight of the last ten points, edging some incredible rallies on the way, to force a decider third game.

Parul Chaudhary, Tajinderpal Singh Toor set to take Paris 2024 stage

India’s athletics campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics began on Thursday with the 20km race walk events.

On the second day of athletics, ace 5000m runner Parul Chaudhary and India’s shot put maestro Tajinderpal Singh Toor will be in action. Both athletes are national record holders in their respective events.

Parul, an Asian Games and Asian champion, is in heat 2 of the women’s 5000m. Compatriot Ankita Dhyani, on the other hand, will race in heat 1. The Indian runners will need to finish in the top eight of their heats to make the final.

Tajinderpal, meanwhile, is in Group A of the shot put qualification event, scheduled to begin at 11:40 PM IST. The reigning Asian Games gold medallist needs to breach the qualification standard of 21.35m or be among the top 12 best performers to advance to the final.

Golf: Indians improve in standings after men’s second round

Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar featured in round two of the men’s golf tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

On Friday, Shubhankar, on his Olympic debut, completed the 18-hole course in 69 shots, one better than his performance yesterday. Gaganjeet, meanwhile, replicated his compatriot’s performance, upgrading from a score of 75 in the first round.

Shubhankar is now T25 while Gaganjeet is T52. Both golfers improved their ranks by four places from yesterday.

The Indian duo will be back in action tomorrow (August 3) at 12:30 PM IST for the third and penultimate round.

Lakshya Sen trails after first game vs Chou Tien Chen

Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen edged an enthralling first game 21-19 in the men’s singles quarter-final badminton match against Lakshya Sen of India at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The first game featured long rallies, deceptions and high-intensity badminton from both shuttlers at the La Chapelle Arena.

Chou Tien Chen, who took an 11-9 lead at the game interval, extended his advantage to five points post the break. Sen bounced back with six points in a row but the Chinese Taipei shuttler held his nerve to take the opening game.

Badminton: Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien Chen underway

Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen is up against Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the men’s singles quarter-final match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Sen, incidentally, is only the third Indian badminton player to make the men’s singles last eight at the Olympics. If he wins today, the world No. 22 will become the first to advance to the men’s singles semi-final at the Summer Games.

Chou Tien Chen, meanwhile, is seeded 12th at Paris 2024.

Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien Chen head-to-head record

Lakshya Sen is the only remaining Indian challenger in badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 22-year-old, playing for India’s first men’s singles Olympic medal, is up against Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen, a World Championships bronze medallist, in the men’s singles quarter-finals.

The Lakshya Sen vs Chou Tien Chen men’s singles badminton quarter-final will start after 9:05 PM IST.

Chou Tien Chen, meanwhile, leads the head-to-head battle against Lakshya Sen 3-1. Sen’s only win in this fixture came in the All England Championship last year, where he beat the Chinese Taipei shuttler 21-18, 21-19.

Tonight’s contest will be their first match against each other in over a year.

Archery: Mixed team fall short of historic bronze at Paris 2024

India’s archery mixed team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara lost 2-6 against Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison of the USA in the mixed team bronze medal match at Paris 2024.

Playing their first-ever Olympic archery semi-final, India narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

Kaufhold-Ellison outscored the Indian pair 38-37 and 37-35 in the first and second sets, respectively. Two 10s in the third allowed India to come back into the contest but the USA pair were on top again in the decisive set.

Seeded fifth in mixed team archery at the ongoing Summer Games, India beat Indonesia (pre-quarterfinal) and Spain (quarterfinal) before losing to the Republic of Korea in the semi-final.

PV Sindhu on her Paris loss and future

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has a message for her fans.

“Paris 2024: A Beautiful Journey but a Difficult Loss

This loss is one of the hardest of my career. It will take time to accept, but as life moves forward, I know I will come to terms with it.

The journey to Paris 2024 was a battle, marked by two years of injuries and long periods away from the game. Despite these challenges, standing here and representing my wonderful country at a third Olympics makes me feel truly blessed.

I'm incredibly fortunate to compete at this level and, even more importantly, to inspire a generation. Your messages have been a tremendous source of comfort during this time. My team and I gave everything we had for Paris 2024, leaving it all on the court with no regrets.

Regarding my future, I want to be clear: I will continue, albeit after a small break. My body, and more importantly, my mind need it. However, I plan to carefully evaluate the journey ahead, finding more joy in playing the sport I love so very much”

Sailing: Vishnu Saravanan placed 22nd after four races

Indian sailor Vishnu Saravanan is participating in the men’s dinghy event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

With the first two races completed on Thursday, the Asian Games bronze medallist finished 20th and 19th in the third and fourth races, respectively, today.

The 25-year-old sailor, featuring at his second Summer Games, is now ranked 22nd in the men’s dinghy standings with 49 net points (83 total points).

Saravanan will compete in the fifth and sixth races of the 10-race opening series tomorrow (August 3).

Score: Vishnu Saravanan (IND) finished 20th in race 3 and 19th in race 4 of the men’s dinghy competition. Saravanan now ranks 22nd overall.

Archery: India lose their maiden semis, to play for mixed team bronze

Indian archers Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara lost 6-2 to the Republic of Korea’s Lim Sihyeon and Kim Woojin in the mixed team semi-final match at Paris 2024.

Despite conceding the first set, the South Korean team bagged three on the bounce to secure their place in the gold medal match. In the four sets, Lim Sihyeon and Kim Woojin scored eight 10s, two more than their Indian counterparts.

It was India’s first semi-final appearance in archery at the Olympics. Bhakat-Bommadevara will now take aim for a bronze medal against the USA at 7:54 PM IST today.

Sailing: Nethra Kumanan ranks 11th post third race

Nethra Kumanan finished 15th and 27th in the second and fourth races, respectively, of the women’s dinghy event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday.

Her sixth-placed finish in the first race, meanwhile, remains her best result so far in the French capital.

Nethra, who missed out on the Asian Games podium last year, is now ranked 11th in the women’s dinghy standings with 21 net points (48 total points).

The fourth race the 10-race opening series will be conducted tomorrow (August 3). Only the top 10 boats at the end of the series will make the medal round.

Hockey: India beat Australia for first time in 52 years at Olympics

The Indian men’s hockey team beat Australia 3-2 in the men’s hockey Pool B match at the Paris 2024 Olympics. It is India's first victory in this fixture at the Olympics since Munich 1972.

India scored twice in two minutes - Abhishek (12’) and Harmanpreet Singh (13’) - in the first quarter at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium. Thomas Craig (25’), however, converted a penalty corner in the second to bring the Kookaburras back into the match.

Harmanpreet (32’), then, doubled his goal tally for the match in the third quarter. Blake Govers’ late penalty (55’) ensured a nerve-wracking end to the contest. But India held their own to collect the three points.

The Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists secured more possession (54%), but Australia made 37 attacking circle penetrations, 17 more than India.

With the win, India displaced Australia to go second in Pool B with three wins, two draws and one defeat. However, Argentina could still potentially take the runner-up spot in the group with a huge victory over Belgium.

The Kookaburras are third with three wins and two losses. Reigning Olympic champions Belgium will remain as the group toppers irrespective of their result against Argentina later in the day.

Shooting: Anant Jeet Singh Naruka lowly ranked after first day of skeet qualification

Indian shooter Anant Jeet Singh Naruka was placed 26th with a total of 68 after the first day of the men’s skeet qualification event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Asian Games silver medallist shot 23 in the first and third rounds while marking 22 in the second. The fourth and fifth rounds are scheduled for tomorrow (August 3).

Vincent Hancock of the USA is currently first with a total of 75. His compatriot Conner Lynn Prince (74) and Chinese Taipei’s Lee Meng Yuan (74) are second and third, respectively.

Only the top six shooters after both days of the qualification round will make the final, also on tomorrow’s agenda.

Score: Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (IND) scored 68 and is ranked 26th after three rounds in the men’s skeet qualification shooting event.

Archery: Indian mixed team beat Spain in thriller, make semis

India’s Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara beat Spain’s Elia Canales and Pablo Acha Gonzalez 5-3 in the mixed team quarter-final archery contest at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Bhakat-Bommadevara, as a result, advanced to the semi-finals and are one win away from an assured medal. It will be India’s first archery medal at the Olympics.

Medal rounds are also on the agenda today at the Les Invalides.

India bagged the first set 38-37 while the two teams were tied in the second. Spain, however, levelled the match by winning the penultimate set.

In the decider, Bommadevara hit two crucial 10s to help outscore the Spaniards. He had also notched four 10s in the previous three sets.

Earlier today, the Indian pair, seeded fifth, went past Diananda Choirunisa and Arif Pangestu of Indonesia by a 5-1 scoreline.

The India vs Republic of Korea mixed team archery semi-final will be held at 7:01 PM IST today.

Score: India beat Spain 5-3 in the mixed team quarter-final archery match. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara made the semi-finals.

Hockey: India lead vs Australia at half-time

After a closely contested first half, India hold a 2-1 lead at half-time against Australia in the men's hockey Pool B match at Paris 2024. The two teams are contesting to take the second spot in the group.

India's Abhishek opened the scoring in the 12th minute while captain Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner one minute later. Craig Thomas, however, cut down the two-goal lead in the 25th minute by scoring from a penalty corner.

Shooting: Manu Bhaker makes 25m pistol final, eyes third medal

Indian shooter Manu Bhaker scored 590-24x to rank second in the women’s 25m pistol qualification round at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Esha Singh, meanwhile, was placed 18th after scoring 581-17x.

Bhaker, as a result, advanced to the women’s 25m pistol final, to be held at the Chateauroux tomorrow (August 3) at 1:00 PM IST. Only the top eight shooters qualified for the medal event.

In the precision stage, Bhaker notched 294 while scoring 296 in the rapid. Manu Bhaker has already bagged two bronze medals at Paris 2024.

Another medal on Saturday would make her the first Indian athlete to win three medals in individual events at the Olympics. All three medals at the same edition of the Olympics would also be an unprecedented Indian record.

The 22-year-old Bhaker, a Youth Olympics champion, could also become the most successful Indian shooter at the Olympic Games.

Esha, on the other hand, scored 291 in precision and 290 in rapid but failed to make the women’s 25m pistol final.

Hungary's Veronika Major, notably, equalled the Olympic qualification record of 592 to top the charts in today's event.

Score: Manu Bhaker (IND) scored 590 to rank second and Esha Singh (IND) finished 18th with a total of 581 in the women's 25m pistol qualification round. Bhaker advanced to the final.

Dhiraj Bommadevara ‘confident’ ahead of mixed team quarters

The Indian mixed archery team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara beat Indonesia earlier today and will play Spain in the quarter-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Bommadevara’s men’s individual and men’s team events did not yield a medal return in the French capital. However, the 22-year-old Indian archer is confident of ahead the match against Spain.

“We are feeling pretty confident. We have one mindset today, that we won't be regretful for our own shooting,” said Bommadevara.

An Asian Games silver medallist, Bommadevara accepted he was burdened with pressure at Paris 2024 but has now found a way to deal with it.

“On the first day when I played team matches, I assumed the pressure would be like 10% more than World Cup stages. But when I came here, it's like 90% up,” he said.

“I realised that in the Olympics, there are no limits for pressure. So I started accepting it. I started facing pressure. I focused on myself. I prepared for that.”

Hockey: India face Australia in final Pool B match

The Indian men’s hockey team will play reigning Olympic silver medallists Australia in their final Pool B match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Both teams are already assured a place in the quarter-finals as they are guaranteed to finish in the top four of their group.

Ahead of today’s clash at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, Australia are placed second in the group. Only a win will take Harmanpreet Singh and Co. above the Kookaburras on the points table.

The India vs Australia men’s hockey Pool B match will begin at 4:45 PM IST.

PV Sindhu wishes Lakshya Sen ahead of quarters

On Thursday, India’s PV Sindhu lost in straight games to He Bingjiao of the People’s Republic of China in the women’s singles round of 16 to exit the Paris 2024 Olympics badminton tournament.

Lakshya Sen, however, will be in the men’s singles quarter-final action later today. Sindhu wished him the best ahead of his clash against Chou Tien Chen.

“I wish him all the very best and I hope he does well. It's his first Olympics, so I want him to give his best and give his 100%.”

Shooting: Manu Bhaker makes top three in qualification precision stage

Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh are the two Indian shooters in the women’s 25m pistol qualification round.

At the end of the precision stage, Bhaker is India’s leading shooter and ranked third overall with a total of 294-7x. Esha, meanwhile, is placed 10th, scoring 291-6x.

The rapid stage of the women’s 25m pistol qualification event is scheduled for 3:30 PM IST.

Manu Bhaker, notably, has already bagged two bronze medals at Paris 2024. She is aiming for an unprecedented third medal by an Indian athlete at the same edition of the Olympics.

On the other hand, Esha Singh is making her Olympic debut. The 19-year-old won three medals at the Asian Games last year, one gold and two silver.

Score: Manu Bhaker (IND) scored 294 to rank third and Esha Singh (IND) finished 10th with a total of 291 in the precision stage of the women's 25m pistol qualification round.

Repechage in judo at Paris 2024

Introduced to the Olympics at Beijing 2008, repechage has since been a part of both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

If wrestlers A, B, C and D make it to the semi-finals in a weight division, A would have beaten W in the round of 32, X in the round of 16, Y in the quarter-finals and Z in the semi-finals.

Wrestlers B, C and D, meanwhile, would have defeated wrestlers P, Q and R, respectively, in the quarter-finals.

In this case, wrestler Y will make the repechage rounds and play one of the other three losers (P, Q and R) of the quarter-final. Two of Y, P, Q and R, then, will make the two bronze medal matches where they will face the losers of the semi-final.

Judo: Tulika Maan loses in round of 32

Indian judoka Tulika Maan went down 10-0 after 28 seconds against Cuba’s Idalys Ortiz in the women’s +78kg elimination round of 32 at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

As a result, Ortiz, the London 2012 champion, advanced to the round of 16 and Maan was knocked out of the competition. While repechage contests are a part of the tournament at Paris 2024, they only allow the losers of the quarter-finals a chance to compete for the bronze medals.

A Commonwealth Games silver medallist and former South Asian Games champion, Tulika Maan made her Olympic debut today. She has also won two bronze medals at the Asian Junior Championships.

Score: Tulika Maan (IND) lost 10-0 to Idalys Ortiz (CUB) in the women’s +78kg round of 32 judo contest.

Rowing: Balraj Panwar finishes fifth in final D

India’s Balraj Panwar clocked 7:02.37 to rank fifth in final D of the men’s singles sculls event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. India’s rowing campaign, as a result, came to an end at the ongoing Summer Games.

The 25-year-old Army man, who took up the sport only four years ago, is placed 23rd overall on his Olympic debut.

However, he could not register India’s best finish in rowing at the Olympics. The record still belongs to the men’s lightweight double sculls duo of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh, who finished 11th at Tokyo 2020.

Panwar was fourth at the Asian Games last year, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. He obtained a Paris 2024 quota by winning a bronze medal at the Asian and Oceanian Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in Chungju, the Republic of Korea in April this year.

Archery: Indian mixed team advance to quarters

Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara, the Indian archery mixed team, won 5-1 against Indonesia’s Diananda Choirunisa and Arif Pangestu in the round of 16 match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Indian pair made the last eight. Medal rounds will also be played today.

Bhakat-Bommadevara took the first and third sets with scores of 37-36 and 38-37, respectively. The second set, meanwhile, was tied at 38-38. The fifth seeds hit five 10s during their pre-quarterfinal victory at the Les Invalides.

The Indian duo will go up against Spain's Elia Canales and Pablo Acha Gonzalez in the quarter-final today at 5:45 PM IST.

Score: India beat Indonesia 5-1 in the mixed team round of 16 archery match. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara advanced to the quarter-finals.

Judo: Tulika Maan eyes Olympic podium

Making her Olympic debut, Tulika Maan is up against Idalys Ortiz in the round of 32 at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tulika Maan, aged 25, was a Commonwealth Games silver medallist two years ago. Her opponent, Idalys Ortiz, is a Cuban judo legend. The 34-year-old is a four-time Olympic medallist and was the champion at London 2012.

  • Swapnil Kusale won the men’s 50 rifle 3 positions bronze medal. It was India’s third medal of Paris 2024 and the first in the event at the Olympics.
  • Lakshya Sen beat HS Prannoy in an all-Indian men’s singles round of 16 badminton match and became only the third Indian male shuttler to make the singles quarter-finals at the Olympics.
  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and PV Sindhu suffered shock exits in badminton.
  • Boxer Nikhat Zareen and shooter Sift Kaur Samra, touted to be medal contenders, also crashed out in their maiden Olympic campaigns.
  • Men’s hockey team, archery and race walk events also did not yield a positive result.

With two Olympic bronze medals already in her kitty, Manu Bhaker will take aim alongside Esha Singh, who won four medals at the Asian Games 2023, in the women’s 25m pistol qualification rounds tomorrow, starting at 12:30 PM IST.

Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, an Asian Games silver medallist, will shoot in the men’s skeet qualification round at 1:00 PM IST.

Lakshya Sen, the lone Indian badminton player left at Paris 2024, will play in the men’s singles quarter-finals against Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen at 9:05 PM IST. The 22-year-old shuttler can script history by becoming the first Indian to make the men’s singles semi-finals at the Olympics.

Parul Chaudhary, an Asian Games gold medallist, will feature in round 1 of the women’s 5000m race along with Ankita Dhyani at Paris 2024.

Two-time Asian champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor will take part in his second Olympics, hoping to upgrade to the podium in the French capital. Athletics events are scheduled from 9:40 PM IST.

Two medals are on offer, one each in judo and archery, where Indian athletes are yet to stand on the Olympic podium.

Commonwealth Games silver medallist Tulika Maan is the only Indian judoka in Paris. The 25-year-old will make her Olympic debut in the women’s +78kg weight category at 1:30 PM IST.

The Indian archery mixed team of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat will face Indonesia in the round of 16 from 1:19 PM IST.

Preliminary rounds in both events will be followed by medal rounds, subject to qualification.

Rower Balraj Panwar will race his final Paris 2024 event today while sailors Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan will continue their campaign in the dinghy.

Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar will resume for the second round of the men’s golf tournament.
