The Indian contingent at the Paris 2024 Olympics will have the opportunity to open their medal tally on Saturday, July 27 with the Indian shooters set to compete in the 10m air rifle mixed team event.

Ramita Jindal/Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan/Sandeep Singh will begin their campaigns in the 10m air rifle mixed team with the qualification rounds at 12:30 PM IST at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux.

The top two teams from the qualification round will compete for gold while the third and fourth-placed teams will vie for bronze. The medal rounds will begin at 2:00 PM IST.

India’s last Olympic medals in shooting came at the London 2012 Games. Also, India have never won a shooting team medal at the Olympics.

Later in the day, one of India’s top shooters Manu Bhaker will compete in the 10m air pistol women's qualification round alongside Rhythm Sangwan.

The top eight athletes in the qualification ranking proceed to the final in the men’s and women’s 10m air pistol events.

Arjun Singh Cheema and Sarabjot Singh, gold medallists at the Asian Games in team events, will participate in the men's 10m air pistol qualification round.

India’s other top medal contenders will also kickstart their campaigns on Saturday. Indian athletes will compete in hockey, badminton, tennis, table tennis, rowing and boxing events.

The Indian men’s hockey team, bronze medallists at Tokyo 2020, will be in the spotlight at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium as it faces New Zealand, the team that eliminated them from last year's Hockey World Cup, in its Pool B opener.

India is the most successful men’s hockey team at the Olympics with a record haul of 12 medals - eight gold, one silver and three bronze.

To qualify for the quarter-finals, the Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian hockey team needs a top-four finish in the six-team Pool B that also has defending champions Belgium, Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia, Argentina and Ireland.

Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, world No. 3, will take on French shuttlers Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar, ranked 40th, in Group C.

Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen (world No. 18) too will look to avoid an early setback against Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon (world No. 41) in his men’s singles badminton Group L match.

Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa (world No. 19) will face the Republic of Korea’s Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong (world No. 8) late in the women's doubles Group C clash.

India’s tennis ace Rohan Bopanna, the Rio 2016 semi-finalist in the mixed doubles, and his partner N Sriram Balaji will face Fabien Reboul and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France on the clay courts in the round of 32.

Table Tennis will see Harmeet Desai take on Jordan’s Zaid Abo Yaman in the men’s singles while Balraj Panwar, the only Indian competing in rowing, will be in action in the men's single sculls heats.

Indian boxer Preeti Pawar will take on Vietnam’s Thi Kim Anh in the women’s 54kg round of 32 bout late in the day.
