Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter and rapper Pharrell Williams was among an ensemble of stars taking part in the final leg of the Olympic Torch Relay on Friday, 26 July.

Williams was also not the only rapper from his country to share in the honour of carrying the Olympic flame before reaching its final destination to officially open the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Snoop Dogg also had a hand in Friday’s leg, adding another superstar name to the event.

Saint-Denis mayor Mathieu Hanotin earlier confirmed that Williams will be among the stars and famous Olympians to carry the torch on the final leg on Friday.

The final day of the Olympic Torch Relay showcased Seine-Saint-Denis and Paris, passing some of the historical landmarks of the two cities. The torch went by several Olympic venues that will take centre stage over the next two weeks of the global showpiece.

Williams, the creator of the 2013 smash hit ‘Happy’ and the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections, added some style to the relay as he carried the torch at the Basilica of Saint-Denis. There were more than 100 torchbearers on the final day of the relay, including sporting legends Sergii Bubka, Chris Hoy and Lindsey Vonn.
