Olympic Channel launches new series "Skate-hers"

Olympic Channel’s newest original series Skate-hers takes you on an exciting trip around the world with seven amazing female skateboarders.

The series features seven episodes, each focusing on an athlete working at a different level of the sport, including Chloe Covell, Christiana Means, Lucy Osinski, Nakayama Funa, Pamela Rosa, Paige Heyn, and Sterre Meijer.

Follow their adventures, challenges, and triumphs, as they make their mark and elevate skateboarding culture. From city streets to famous skateparks, see how these women are shaping the sports's future and inspiring a new generation.

You can also watch Australia's Covell, Nakayama of Japan, Brazilian Rosa, and Heyn of Team USA try to secure an Olympic quota for Paris 2024 at the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS), the second round of which takes place in Budapest, Hungary, from 20-23 June.

The first five episodes of Skate-hers launched on 12 June 2024, with the sixth following a week later. Episodes are available to watch now for free and without subscription on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and on the official Olympics apps for mobile and connected TV devices, ahead of the launch of the final two episodes around the OQS event in Budapest.

Episode 1 - Chloe Covell: The Rising Star

The Australian's meteoric rise in skateboarding has made her a formidable competitor and a beloved figure in the street scene. Follow Chloe as she challenges the best in the world, forms lasting friendships, and takes one step closer to her Olympic dream. Chloe's journey is one of passion, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.

Episode 2 - Christiana Means: The Road to Recovery

Christiana Means, a 25-year-old skateboarder from the Philippines who was raised in South Carolina, moved to LA to pursue her dream. After major knee surgery and a year of recovery, she's back and more motivated than ever to push her limits in skateboarding.

Episode 3 - GRLSWIRL: A Global Skate Sisterhood

Lucy Osinski, a former ballerina, discovered new power on a skateboard and founded GRLSWIRL in 2018. This all-female skate sisterhood, born in Venice Beach, USA, embraces femininity in skating. With chapters around the world, Lucy visits Paris to highlight the vibrant community and inspiring vision of GRLSWIRL.

Episode 4 - Nakayama Funa: The Groundbreaker

Hailing from Toyama City in Japan, Nakayama Funa has quickly risen through the skateboarding ranks. At just 18, she's competed in top contests worldwide, earning accolades, including a bronze medal in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in 2021. Follow her journey of hard work, skill, and dedication as she breaks new ground in the sport.

Episode 5 - Pamela Rosa: The Champion

Pamela Rosa from São Paulo, Brazil, is a former women’s world champion in skateboarding. With two X-Games wins and four other podium finishes, she represented Brazil on skateboarding's Olympic debut. Despite an injury in Tokyo, she reclaimed the world champion title in 2021. As a key member of the Brazilian national team, Pamela continues to be one of the most recognisable and formidable skaters in the world.

Episode 6 - Paige Heyn: On the road to Paris

US street skateboarder Paige Heyn is known for her powerful and skilled skating. Originally from California, Paige has quickly risen through the ranks despite numerous struggles on her path to the top. As the US hope for gold, Paige has her sights firmly set on Paris 2024, making her a rising star to watch.

Episode 7 - Sterre Meijer: The influencer

Sterre Meijer is set to be the next big thing in skateboarding and social media. Among the top five most-followed female skaters, the lover of surfing and windsurfing from the Netherlands is on track to become a media star.
