Norway beat France 29-21 to win the gold medal in women's handball at Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Saturday, 10 August at Pierre Mauroy Stadium.

For Norway, the victory means a fith straight Olympic medal in this event and their first handball gold since London 2012. Henny Reistad paced the gold medlaists, scoring eight goals on 12 shots.

"It is absolutely perfect. In many ways it is almost too good to be true, but then it is true anyway. I am just completely overwhelmed and grateful to be able to stand here like this," said Stine Bredal Oftedal. "We played like Norway. We wanted to have this solid defence. We have had great goalkeepers for years and we managed to get everything out there and be solid."

Earlier in the day, Denmark defeated Sweden 30-25 to ensure bronze. It was Denmark's first Olympic medal in women's handball since winning gold at Athens 2004.

"I'm just really proud, happy and satisfied. Of course, it was really hard to lose the semi-final, but we gave everything today to get this bronze medal and now we have it," Anne Mette Hansen said. "It's a big difference to go home with a fourth place or third place. Now we get proof that we've been here and it’s really cool."
