The world's best track and field athletes will head to the Qatari capital of Doha for the third round of the 2024 Diamond League on 10 May.

There will be plenty of exciting competitions under the lights, as athletes chase Olympic standards and attempt to put their rivals on notice.

Numerous Olympians and world champions will be in attendance at the meet. Read on to find out more about the athletes to watch, competition schedule, and how to watch the 2024 Diamond League in Doha, Qatar.

Neeraj Chopra returns to the Diamond League

Reigning world champion and Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Neeraj Chopra will look to make an early season statement ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Not complacent with his ever-growing trophy haul, Chopra has a new goal in sight: the 90m mark.

Speaking ahead of the meet, the Indian superstar stated, “This year, my personal goal is to defend my Olympic title, but it would also mean a lot to me to break the 90m barrier.”

He will be joined on the runway by 2019 world champion Anderson Peters and Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch. Both will be looking to score an early victory against Chopra.

Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy headline pole vault in Doha

Co-world champions Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy will renew their pole vault rivalry in Doha ahead of Paris 2024.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Moon will attempt to reestablish herself as top challenger after an injury plagued her during the indoor season. Kennedy will look to improve upon the 4.65m mark she set at Australian nationals last month.

The pair will also face a challenge from the newly minted indoor world champion Molly Caudery. With a current world-leading mark of 4.86m, she will look to creep ever closer to the 4.91m achieved by Moon and Kennedy at last year’s world championships.

Miltiádis Tentóglou cleared for takeoff ahead of Paris 2024

The current world outdoor, world indoor and European champion will enter Qatari airspace for the first time in Doha. The Greek jumper will hope to soar above the competition and establish himself as the primary favourite for the gold medal in Paris.

“I was in Doha for the World Championships in 2019, but I’ve never competed at the Diamond League meeting,” said Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion Miltiádis Tentóglou. “The conditions in Doha are perfect and there is always a little wind, so I'm hoping to start strong in my 2024 outdoor season.”

Middle Distance stars galore under lights in Doha

It will be a battle between youth and experience in the men’s 1500m in Doha.

28 year-old Olympic silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot and 25 year-old world championships bronze medalist Narve Gilje Nordås will line up against teenage standouts Biniam Mehary of Ethiopia and Reynold Cheruiyot of Kenya.

With fast times being the uniting factor between all four athletes, the race will almost certainly set the tone for the Olympic season.

A Clash of Champions: Mary Moraa v. Jemma Reekie

Current outdoor world champion Mary Moraa will face reigning indoor world silver medallist Jemma Reekie in the women’s 800m.

In what could be the first salvo in a budding rivalry, Reekie will hope to prove that she is as good over two laps outdoors as she is over four laps indoors. Moraa, on the other hand, will call upon her 400m background to give her finishing sprint an extra boost.

The pair will aim to put each other on notice ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

More Olympic Champions in action in Doha

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champions Steven Gardiner and Soufiane El Bakkali will be back in action in Doha as well. El Bakkali will look to maintain his dominant grip on the men’s 3000m steeplechase at major championships, while Gardiner will look to put injury troubles behind him and open his season on a positive note in the men’s 400m.
