28 July, and Day 2 of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, could see Adam Peaty replicate his Tokyo 2020 achievement when he claimed Team GB's first gold medal of the Games. He could also become the first swimmer since Michael Phelps to win a third consecutive title in the same individual event, in Peaty's case, the men's 100m breaststroke.

Campaigns begin for women's rugby sevens, with GB aiming to make the podium after two fourth-place finishes. Women's gymnastics qualification also gets underway, and, weather permitting, we'll see the opening series of the sailing disciplines of windsurfing and skiff.

Chelsie Giles begins her quest to earn Team GB's first-ever Olympic gold in judo and eventing continues on day two of three, with cross-country.

Photographs have already delivered iconic Parisian vibes from day one's dressage at the Chateau de Versailles where GB's equestrian athletes are 'on track' to defend their team title, plus earn individual honours, when the two competitions conclude on Monday (29 July).

Read on to discover Team GB’s highlights on Day 2 of Paris 2024.

British athletes to watch on 28 July at Paris 2024: Adam Peaty, Chelsie Giles and Jasmine Joyce-Butchers

After winning gold at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Adam Peaty's loss of confidence, mental health struggles, and injuries have been well documented. However, the five-time Olympic medallist could well start a medal-rush today, in both individual and upcoming relay races.

But if he could start by securing gold in his specialist event, in which he is the world record holder and three-time world champion, a more relaxed Peaty could be on for quite the performance in the Paris La Defense Arena.

He might not have it all his own way though, with the bronze medallist in Japan and 2022 World champion in the distance, Nicolo Martinenghi of Italy, a potential challenger.

Judoka Chelsie Giles, herself a bronze medallist in Tokyo and World silver medallist in 2022 in the -52g category, is eyeing history, as no British judoka has ever won Olympic gold prior to Paris 2024.

Her campaign starts Sunday (28 July) at the prestigious Champ de Mars Arena, with top spot the aim after 13 medals from the Brits at previous Games. Giles won Team GB's first medal in Japan and is one of five in the team - all women - competing in Paris.

Jasmine Joyce-Butchers is the first British women's rugby player to be selected for three separate Games. What that also means is that Joyce-Butchers has extra fire in her belly after coming fourth in rugby sevens at the previous two Games. "Gutted," is how the Wales player described the feeling, which she doesn't want to replicate in France.

GB take on Ireland in the first match of the women's edition followed by Australia later in the day. Monday (29 July) sees a final pool game against South Africa, which could prove decisive.
