Two-time 200m world champion Shericka Jackson won her first half-lap race of the year at the Marrakesh Diamond League meeting in Morocco on Sunday (19 May).

The Jamaican superstar shook off some rust in her pet event posting a rather pedestrian 22.82 seconds for her lofty standards. The second-fastest woman in history over the 200m sprint with a personal best of 21.41s showed no emotions as she crossed the finish.

Jackson held a slim lead coming out of the bend with the Ivory Coast’s Maboundou Koné keeping her company on her inside. Koné crossed the line in second place in 22.96s with Helene Parisot following in third with a personal best of 23.02

The Jamaican pulled out of both the Miramar Invitational and the Suzhou Diamond League events in April before opening her 2024 outdoor season earlier this month with a 100m victory in 11.03s at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association All Comers.
