Should there be concern for two-time and reigning world 200m champion Shericka Jackson?

The second-fastest woman of all time in the event struggled on Thursday (30 May) at the Oslo Diamond League stop, slumping to fifth place in the women's 200m as she clocked a 22.97.

American Brittany Brown, the 2019 world silver medallist, was the surprise winner, turning in a 22.32 from Lane 8 to clip Marie-Josee Ta-Lou Smith at 22.36. Great Britain's Daryll Neita was third at 22.50.

It was a disappointing result for the 29-year-old Jackson, who had won the Marrakech Diamond League on 19 May in a time of 22.82. In Oslo, she was mid-pack at the turn, but never found another gear, fading to finish fifth as Brown and Ta-Lou Smith surged.

"I just did what I had to do out of Lane 8," she told Olympics.com. "It cemented what I already knew. I knew that I could go out there and get the job done."
