After making its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, 3x3 basketball is back for round two at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

A total of 64 athletes - the same number as competed in Tokyo - will play in Paris, making up eight men’s and eight women’s teams, each with four athletes.

Competition will take place between 30 July - 5 August at La Concorde, an urban, upbeat venue where skateboarding, BMX Freestyle and breaking will also be held.

The game will be played on one half of a basketball court where three players of each team will go head to head in attempts of being the first to reach 21 points, or have the highest total when the clock hits 10 minutes.

United States won the women’s competition in Tokyo and Latvia won the men’s, but anything could be in store for the results in Paris. Continue for stars to follow, the full schedule and how to watch the action go down live.

Sitting on top of the FIBA world rankings for men’s and women’s 3x3 basketball going into Paris is the United States of America.

The women won the gold medal in Tokyo and are looking strong ahead of Paris, where they will fight to defend their title. They took the 2023 FIBA World Cup title in May of last year, with France coming in second and Australia in third.

The Australian women sit ranked as world number three and will make their Olympic debut in Paris. The Aussies are topped by the People’s Republic of China on the world leaderboard, sitting in second place. The Chinese women took the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and just missed the podium at the World Cup to take fourth behind USA, Australia and France.

The American men failed to qualify for Tokyo, but will head to Paris in search of a medal after finishing in second place at the 2024 World Cup, behind Serbia, which currently sits in fourth on the world leaderboard and took the bronze medal in Tokyo. Reigning Olympic Champions Latvia are also strong contenders for the gold medal after finishing in third at the 2023 World Cup.
