Shot putter Traugott Glöckler reached the finals at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games placing 12th and 18th. He was nominated for the 1969 European Championships but could not start due to the West German boycott. At the European Indoors Glöckler placed fourth in 1968 and 1969. In 1967 he earned a silver medal at the Summer Universiade. Domestically he was runner-up from 1966-70 but never managed to win a title. His brother Wolfgang was a sprinter. Traugott Glöckler later became a teacher.
