个人信息

Scott Huffman was a pole vaulter who went to college at the University of Kansas. As a senior he was second at the NCAA Indoor meet. Huffman had a long career after college, finally making the US Olympic team in 1996. He was US Champion in 1993-95, also making the team for the 1995 World Championships. He finished fifth in 1993 both at the Worlds and the Grand Prix Final, while in 1995 he was sixth at Worlds and again fifth at the GPF.

Huffman set one US record, recording 5.97 at Knoxville, Tennessee in June 1994. Huffman is perhaps best known for his vaulting technique, often called the “Huffman Roll.” As he cleared the bar he often performed a variant of a high jump technique such as the Western Roll or straddle. Fairly short at 174 m (5-9), Huffman was known as one of the fastest vaulters in the world. After retiring Huffman began a career in pharmaceutical sales, working for Sanofi Pharmaceuticals in the Kansas City area.

Personal Best: PV – 5.97 (1994).
