个人信息

Roar Ljøkelsøy had a slow start to his career, winning his first World Cup event in January 2003 at age 26. In the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons Ljøkelsøy was very consistent, placing second in both seasons in the World Cup to Finland’s Janne Ahonen. During his career Ljøkelsøy won 11 individual World Cup events, adding three wins in team competition. He was at his best on bigger hills, winning the World Ski Flying Championship at Planica in 2004 and in 2006 at Bad Mittendorf. In both years he also led the Norwegian team to the team title.

At the World Championships Ljøkelsøy won four medals, winning two silvers – individual large hill in 2005 and team large hill in 2007, and two bronzes – individual large hill in 2007 and team large hill in 2005. He was also the 2004 Holmenkollen ski jump champion. Ljøkelsøy retired after the 2010 season. His all-time longest jump was 230.5 metres, set in 2005 at Planica.
