After graduating from Stanford, Morris Kirksey earned his medical degree from St. Louis Medical College. He later served for 25 years as a staff psychiatrist for the State Department of Corrections, working at San Quentin and Folsom prisons. Kirksey was known mostly as a sprinter on the track team while at Stanford. He won the IC4A 100 yards in 1922 and in 1923, won the sprint double at both the New Zealand and Hawaiian championships. Apart from his medals in the 100 metres and relay Kirksey also competed in the 200 metres at Antwerp, but was eliminated in the heats. He is one of the few men to have won gold medals in two different Olympics sports.
