个人信息

West German Klaus Greinert was on the West German national team at the 1960 Roma Olympics, but did not play in any matches. He was then a member of the delegation to the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and lost the bronze medal match against India 1-2. During this tournament the only official international match between East and West Germany was played in the preliminary round and was won by West Germany 3-2. Greinert from Berliner HC earned 72 international caps from 1960-69. With Berlin he earned seven West German titles, 1961-63 and 1965 outdoor and 1962, 1963 and 1965 indoor.

His wife, non-Olympian Jutta Röchling, also was a field hockey international. Greinert became CEO of his wife’s family business, the Röchling Group (a producer of plastic parts for the automobile industry), and from 1997 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rheinmetall AG. In 1963 he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, the highest sports award in Germany.
