Karl Wolf was a West German hammer thrower who finished sixth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics when he was also captain of the athletics team. He was a multiple West German champion in hammer throw (four times), weight throw (seven times) and stone put (once). He was also active as a wrestler and weightlifter. For his achievements he was awarded the DLV Needle in Gold in 1955, the Rudolf Harbig Memorial Award in 1951, and the Medal for Merit of the Baden Sports Association in 1978, and also the Silver Bay Leaf.

Wolf was a trained baker who owned a big bakery enterprise. He was the founder of the purchasing cooperative of bakeries and confectioners in Karlsruhe, foreman of the Bakers' Guild in Karlsruhe and Deputy of the Guild of Bakers in Baden.
