个人信息

On the track he won 18 Midland Counties titles and was the AAA Champion at 6 miles (1933-35) and 10 miles (1934, and his record as a cross-country runner was even more distinguished. He presented England in the International race every year from 1929-39 and won the event four times (1933-35, 1939). Surprisingly he did not win his first English title until 1938 but he was the champion again in 1939, and after World War II, took his third title in 1946. In his final appearance in the International in 1946 he was the first Englishman home in sixth place. He then concentrated on the marathon and four AAA titles (1947-50) and was the British Empire and European Champion in 1950. In the 1934 British Empire Games he finished fourth in the 6 miles and in the 1950 British Empire Games 6 miles he finished seventh. In the British Empire Games he represented England.
