个人信息

A winner of national titles in the late 50s, Jean Saubert failed to be named to the 1960 Olympic team but continued to improve. At the 1962 FIS-World Championships she placed in the top ten in all four events (three races and alpine combined). In 1963 and 1964 she was dominating United States' skiing and beginning to win races on the European circuit. She was one of the favorites at the 1964 Olympics and did not disappoint, although she was unable to beat France’s Goitschel sisters, who nipped her in the two technical races. Saubert’s silver medal was actually shared with Christine Goitschel, with whom she tied in the giant slalom. After the Olympics, Jean Saubert continued to race successfully through 1966 when she retired just after the FIS Summer Championships. Saubert graduated from Oregon State and did graduate work at Brigham Young. After retiring she had a career as a teacher and a ski coach.
