Jakob Vogt, a German weightlifter, won the 1924 European middleweight and 1929 light-heavyweight titles, and was third in 1930, and second in 1933. He set eleven light-heavyweight world records from 1926-32 – five in the press, one in the snatch, and five combined. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics he finished equal fourth in the middleweight class. Although he qualified for the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles he could not take part as his Federation did not have the money to pay his expenses for the trip to the United States. In 1936 he had to withdraw from the Berlin Olympics due to a hand injury. He was the German National light-heavyweight champion in 1927-30 and 1932.

Qualified as a street worker, Vogt later became a long-time coach at his home club AC Siegfried Ochtendung and with the Weightlifting Association of Rhineland Palatine. In Ochtendung, the Rhineland stadium was name in his honor. In his youth Vogt was a track sprinter and gymnast.
