个人信息

Jakkrit Panichpatikum competed in four Olympic Games as a pistol shooter for Thailand from 1996-2012, with a best placement of seventh in the 2008 air pistol event. A few months after the London Olympics, Panichpatikum achieved a sort of infamy when he was arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening his wife, Nitwadee Pucharoenyos and her mother, at their home. His wife noted that Panichpatikum had been using drugs heavily, especially since the London Games, and had become abusive. Following his arrest, he was charged with attempted murder, assault, illegal possession of firearms, committing violent acts, resisting a blood test to determine if he had used drugs, resisting arrest, and intimidating witnesses.

A few months after his arrest, while out on bail, Panichpatikum was in his car in Bangkok on a Saturday night, driving to the home of his estranged wife, when he was killed by a shooter who fired at him from a motorcycle, shooting him three times in the chest and abdomen. In May 2017 his widow was found guilty of arranging his murder, and was sentenced to the death penalty.
