Jair Lynch competed in gymnastics at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, highlighted by a silver medal on parallel bars at Atlanta. He also won two bronze medals at the 1992 Universiade, with the team and on parallel bars. Lynch competed in college at Stanford, leading them to the NCAA title in 1992 and 1993, and earning 12 All-American honors. While in college he was nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship. Lynch was one of the first African-Americans to compete in Olympic gymnastics for the United States.

Lynch later studied at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard. He settled in Washington, DC where he started the Jair Lynch Companies, a real estate development and construction company. He also served on several Boards of Directors. Lynch is a member of the Stanford Hall of Fame. He has received the Stanford Black Community Service Award (1991-92), and the DC Urban League Future Leaders Award.
