个人信息

Igor Grivennikov was strong in both freestyle and backstroke and represented the Soviet Union at international tournaments in both. Grivennikov competed at two major international meets during his career: the 1972 Olympics and 1973 World Championships. He won a silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay and bronze in the 4x200 freestyle relay at the 1972 Olympics and also swam in both the 100 free and 100 back finals, finishing fifth in backstroke and sixth in freestyle. At the 1973 World Championships Grivennikov won silver in the 4x100 free relay, but was not as successful in individual events as he was at the Olympics, swimming only in the first rounds of both the 100 freestyle and backstroke. Domestically, Grivennikov won seven Soviet titles: 1970-72 in 100 backstroke, in 1972 in 200 freestyle, in 1973 and 1975 in the 4x100 free relay, and in 1973 in the medley relay. Grivennikov graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University with a candidate of biology degree and has worked as a biochemist in the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow since 1987. Grivennikov is a member of the American Society for Neuroscience, a member of the Russian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and has published over 50 scientific papers.

Personal Best: 100 m freestyle – 51.57 (1972); 200 m freestyle – 1:56.10 (1972); 100 m backstroke – 59.13 (1972).
