Sprinter Hermann Schlöske, brother of Helmut Schlöske, was eliminated in the second round of the 200 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. He was German Champion in the 200 in 1924, and sprint relay champion in 1929 (setting a world record) and 1930, also winning a 4x400 title in 1929.

A merchant and entrepreneur, Hermann Schlöske later became an athletics coach and in February 1968 adopted his pupil and 400 runner Horst-Rüdiger Pfau, who took the name Schlöske and competed in the 1972 München Games. In 1951, Hermann Schlöske was awarded the DLV needle in gold.
