个人信息

Hans Lubinus finished sixth with the 6-metre class sailing team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics at Kiel, where the sailing events took place. Their boat Gustel V was disqualified in races two and five, otherwise it would have won a medal. Only a few weeks earlier, the yacht had won the German national title. He competed in two more Olympics, and each time was the oldest German participant. In 1952 he finished ninth as one of the three-man crew aboard Tom Kyle in the 5.5-metre class, and in 1956, again in the 5.5-metre class, he finished 10th aboard Tilly.

Lubinus studied medicine at Kiel, but was recruited into the German Army for World War I in 1914. During the war he was awarded the Iron Cross I. and II. Class. After the war he finished his studies and expanded the private clinic of his father Johann Lubinus in Kiel. During World War II he served as a surgeon on the hospital boat Berlin, and as head of air raid precaution doctors in Kiel from 1940-45. In this function he was involved in the forced sterilization of men. After the war he was never accused of his war crimes.
