个人信息

As a junior, Guy Drut was a multi-talented athlete who won the 1968 French junior decathlon title. After winning his first of seven French titles in the 110 m hurdles in 1970 (others won in 1971-73, 1975-76, 1980), he decided to concentrate on the high hurdles. Drut first competed internationally at the 1970 European Indoor Championships, where he won bronze in the 60 m hurdles, before competing at the 1971 Mediterranean Games, where he won gold in the 110 hurdles. He then won gold in 50 m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships, before finishing second at the 1972 München Olympics. At the 1974 European Championships, Drut won gold, repeating that victory at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. His last international tournament was the 1981 European Indoor Championships, where he won a bronze medal in the 50 m hurdles.

After retirement from sports, Drut became active in business and politics. He was a member of the French Parliament from 1986-2007, served as Minister of Youth and Sports from 1995-97, and was also mayor of Coloummiers from 1992-2008. In 2005, Drut was tried on charges of allegedly holding fictitious jobs between 1990 and 1992 to fund his political party. He always maintained his innocence and was granted amnesty by French President Jacques Chirac in 2006.

Personal Best: 110H – 13.0 (1975).
