个人信息

As a member of the Ashcombe AC in 1920, Gordon Goodwin finished second to William Hehir in the Surrey Walking Club’s annual race for the Edward C Webb Challenge Cup over more than 18 miles, and the following year he became the first winner of the Surrey club’s 10-mile race for the Warlingham Cup and also captured the Webb trophy, which he retained in 1922. By now Goodwin was a member of the Surrey Walking Club. He finished second to Hehir again in the 1922 Road Walking Championship at Richmond Park. Having finished second in the AAA 2-mile walk and 7-mile walk in 1923, Goodwin won both events in 1924. He won the 2 miles again in 1925 and the 7 miles in 1926. He also won the 2 miles walk at the closed English AAA Meeting in each of the three years that these Championships were held (1923-25). It should be noted, however, that, in 1924, the AAA and English AAA Championship for the 2-mile walk were held as one at Northampton. He was later a walking judge at the 1948 Olympics and served as President of the RWA in 1952.

Personal Bests: 2 mile Walk – 14:07.4 (1925); 10kmW – 48:37.0 (1924); 7 mile Walk – 52:00.6 (1924).
