Dartmouth’s Gerry Geran has the unusual distinction of having played in the NHL twice – both before his Olympic appearance and after it. In 1918, he played four games with the old Montreal Wanderers club, while still an amateur, making Geran the first American in the NHL. Previously all players had been Canadians. He then returned to Boston and rejoined his Boston Athletic Association amateur team. He continued to play with them until 1925 when he played in 33 games for the Boston Bruins.
