个人信息

Fyodor Shutkov took up sailing after World War II and soon rose to be one of the top Soviet sailors. He won the Soviet title in the L3 class in 1948 and the L4 class in 1951 and was selected for the Soviet 1952 Olympic team. But in Helsinki, sailing in 6 metres class, Shutkov was not very successful, finishing in last, 11th place, with his crew. In 1953, Shutkov teamed up with Timir Pinegin and they became one of the most successful Soviet Star class sailors. Shutkov and Pinegin won Olympic gold in 1960 and were European champions in 1964. They also won two bronzes at the European Championships (1961, 1966). Domestically, they won 13 Soviet Star titles (1953-62, 1964-65, 1969) and they won the Baltic Regatta eight times (1958, 1959, 1961-65 and 1967). Shutkov retired from sailing in 1969, after his fifth Olympic appearance, and later worked as a sailing coach in Moscow. He also won eight Soviet ice yachting titles during his career.
