Yevgeny Mishakov began his ice hockey career in 1959 in Lokomotiv Moskva, and then played two seasons in 1962-63 with SKA Moskva Oblast, until he joined CSKA Moskva in 1963, where he played until the end of his playing career in 1974. With CSKA Moskva Mishakov won eight Soviet titles (1964-66, 1968, 1970-73) and six European Champions Cup titles (1969-74). Internationally Mishakov won two Olympic golds (1968, 1972), was World champion four times (1968-71), and European Champion three times (1968-70). He also won silver at the 1972 World Championships and silvers at the 1971 and 1972 European Championships. In 1972 Mishakov took part in the legendary Summit Series between Canada and Soviet Union, playing in six games. After his playing career Mishakov worked as a head coach at SKA Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) and SKA Moskva oblast. From 1984-91 he worked as a hockey coach with the sports club AZLK. From 1994-98 Mishakov worked as a hockey agent, dealing young Russian players to the United States. In 1999 Mishakov was the head coach of Kola AES and from 2000-03 was the vice-president of the hockey club Sibir Novosibirsk. Mishakov was the head coach of Altay Severomorsk in 2003-04, and from 2004-06 was the head coach of Avangard Kondopoga. At the time of his death Mishakov worked as a consultant to the hockey club MVD Moskva oblast.
