Casper Ruud has firmly planted Norway on the tennis map, surpassing his father Christian Ruud's world ranking of 39 to become his country's first top-10 ranked player.
Ruud Jr struggled in junior Slam singles events in 2015 although he did reach the boys' semi-finals at Wimbledon with Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic. The youngster went top of the world rankings with victory at the Osaka Mayors Cup early in 2016, with he and Kecmanovic going on to make the semis at Roland-Garros.
The Norwegian prodigy entered the professional circuit with a bang in 2016, winning a number of Futures titles as well as the clay-court ATP Challenger event in Seville. It was not until April 2019 that he made his first ATP Tour final, going down to Cristian Garin at the U.S. Clay Court Championships in Houston.
